jail break...
Here he is... a 2 year old ball of energy. Mr. Shadow... shortly after this picture was taken, he got a bad bout of heartworms, and the treatment did something awful to his little body and he was never the same dog again.
You know... pets are like people. They are a part of your family, and when they grow old, they depend on you for support. Would you like to be neglected by your family? I know the answer is no, but why do we treat our pets that way? They can't tell you when they hurt... they can't tell you it's almost time to go to that dog park in the sky... but they can let you know with their eyes... they say it all.
Well, this one is facing that. He is old... real old. He's 13 to be exact. That's 91 in dog years... he's an old wise grandpa man. No one plays with him anymore... no one cares he exists... no one minds if the gate is open and he runs away. Because they are tired of dealing with him. Would you want me to send you out to the pasture if you were old and I was tired of dealing with you? I would hope not...
Friday he got out and ran. Ran far far away from home... maybe he tried to come back, but there was no one there to greet him and welcome him home. Did anyone even dare search for him? I cried that day.
Last night, his sister found him. Someone wasn't giving up on him...
Mug shots say it all...
5 years old?..... ha, maybe at heart. Aren't we all a little young at heart?
You see he's been tagged with a number.. just like he was at a concentration camp. Auchwitz... that's where he was. When Danielle rescued him, he just shook and shook... he was petrified. Rightfully so... she said that place was awful... worse than a prison. They labeled him aggressive and put him on the kill list. The. Kill. List.
There are no words... I am still sick just thinking of it.
If anything, my backyard is about to become a rest home for elderly dogs... and he is the first resident.
